Dark Skies Festival

Presteigne & Norton Town Council in Powys are the first International Dark Sky Community in England & Wales – we thought that you might be interested to hear more about how they did it!

The Dark Sky Festival on Saturday 21st September at the National Park Visitor Centre features a talk from Presteigne resident Leigh Harling-Bowen about how a small Radnorshire community gained this dark sky community award.

Our Dark Skies Festival on 21st September includes a 45 minute presentation about how a Welsh community (Presteigne) worked together to gain their dark sky community award, the first in Wales and England.

Leigh Harling-Bowen will talk about light pollution, what it is, why it has increased, the effect on the night sky and its environmental impact on humans, wildlife, energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.

Leigh will explain what a small community did about it and how other communities could start a similar approach.

It is on at 12.30 – 1.15 in the classroom at the National Park Visitor Centre. It is free and you can book tickets here: Gŵyl Awyr Dywyll // Dark Sky Festival 2024 | Eventbrite
