Message from Welsh Water:
My name is Hayley and I’m a Customer Engagement Officer for Welsh Water and I wanted to let you know about our upcoming work in Grwyne Fawr
One of the main things we do at Welsh Water is to provide a first-class supply of drinking water every time you open the tap. To make sure we continue doing this, we’re investing over £500,000 to upgrade around 4169m of water pipes in the Grwyne Fawr area.
What to expect
Our work is due to begin in early September 2026 and subject to everything going to plan, will be completed early November 2026.
We’ll be using an innovative technique called slip lining where we instal a new water pipe inside the existing main. This technique allows us to reduce the amount of excavation required and minimise disruption.
We’ll be working with our contractor partners MGroup who will be working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, although sometimes we may need to work outside these hours and on weekends to get the work done.
To keep our customers and colleagues safe, a road closure will be in place on Cwm Road for the duration of the work. Access will be maintained for residents.
To ensure customers remain in supply while we carry out this work, we will have temporary water storage tanks (bowsers) and water delivery vehicles (tankers) on site to maintain supplies.
