Our Chairman, Cllr David Sharman, was recently honoured with an invitation from the Lord Chamberlain to attend a Garden Party at Buckingham Palace.
Accompanied by the Clerk Cllr Sharman arrived at The Palace on a fine sunny June day.
Whilst the sun shone brightly for the majority of the afternoon, the moment the Queen arrived the heavens opened with a torrential downpour!! Whilst some guests had the foresight to bring a brolly, fooled by the strong summer sun, many had not….
The most dedicated guests remained stoically standing to receive the royal party (a little wet to say the least) – for others, wishing to protect their finery, the tea tents became extremely popular – with the added bonus of cake and cucumber sandwiches (crust-less of course)!!
The Queen was radiant in yellow with the Duke of Edinburgh by her side looking extremely fit in his 93rd year.
It was a fabulous afternoon which the Chairman and Clerk felt extremely honoured to have experienced.
